Success comes in many forms

With Instagram and Facebook showcasing so many different lifestyles, the actual definition of “success” starts to get really blurred.  People start comparing themselves to other people and viewing themselves as failures because they haven’t been able to make it as “big” as others, but they might not even be that successful.  What if your definition of success is different than theirs?

In a game of chess, there is a clear goal for the winner, he or she has to take the King.  In life, there is no clear sign of “success” for everyone, it varies from person to person.  You need to keep in mind that your pace and path in life is different from everyone else’s. Yes, even those people who want to do what you want to do.  I know that we’re taught to be go getters and to think about all the people in the world who is working twice as hard to take your spot and there’s a lot of truth to that, but at the same time… don’t go comparing yourself and thinking about how much you’re a failure because you’re not “successful.”

Making money and spending tons of it on meaningless stuff is not “successful.” To some, having a cute home and a family is success and to others, not having a family and traveling the world with their partner is.  Some people want to work for a company and have their own office whereas some want to live remotely and start a non profit and provide affordable housing for a group of people.

Success comes from you and it can only be defined by you. Don’t look at someone else and feel bad about yourself because you’re not at that level.  For all we know, that person could be really unhappy with all that wealth and want to be doing something else with their life.  I mean, look at Bruce Wayne.  He’s a billionaire who wants to fight crime 😀
