Imagine a time machine has just been invented and the future version of yourself has come back to give the college-age version some advice. Here are 10 things you’d tell yourself before donning that cap and gown and accepting your diploma.
1. Skip Class
You have years ahead of you where you will report for a job at the same time each and every morning. Allow yourself to sleep in and miss class, or go do something more fun at least once before you graduate.
2. Do a Semester Abroad
You will never regret going to travel, especially if you are getting school credit for it. So what are you waiting for? Go. Now.
3. Take a Class You Never Thought You’d Take
Whether it’s a beer brewing class, a ballroom dance class, scuba instruction or a painting class, college is your time to explore and try things you never would consider. Sign up for the unexpected. You never know where it will take you.
4. Go Streaking Through the Quad
Because really, you only live once.
5. Crash a Rival Sorority/Fraternity Party
While you’re there, be sure to help yourself to ample amounts of drinks.
6. Pull An All-Nighter
Because after college is over, you quickly lose your ability to stay up all night while still being able to function like a human.
7. Make Out In the Stacks
It’s kinda like skinny-dipping, it’s just something that has to be done.
8. Get A Picture With Your School Mascot
Show your school pride by saying cheese with your school’s icon.
9. Run For Student Government
It’s your civic duty. And you can make yourself some really cool campaign swag too.
10. Wear Your School Colors Proudly
Because there will be very few times following college that you’ll actually be encouraged to cover your entire body in paint.
