Spotify, the subscription-based music company just announced that they will be cutting the cost of their music service by 50 percent for US-based college students. That means students pay $5 per month instead of $10 for their premium service.<\/p>\n
The deal is good for any student who attends a four-year, two-year college or university as well as those in junior college. The offer is valid for four years (sorry six year seniors).<\/p>\n
The popular music service will use a special verification service to ensure that those who apply for the discount are in fact real students.<\/p>\n
While the discount is nice, rumor has it Spotify is trying to keep up with other music services, rdio in particular, who started offering $5 a month plans last month. Spotify, which is has offices in London and Sweden, has been providing discounts to students in the United Kingdom since 2012.<\/p>\n
This latest bid for student dollars got us thinking about some of the other perks college students can get with their student status.<\/p>\n

Delivery Services \u2013 Students with a vaild school email address can get a free Amazon Prime account. Prime provides students free two-day shipping on eligible purchases as well as other perks like free movie downloads from Amazon.<\/p>\n
Software \u2013 Next time you need to put together a presentation or design a project for a class, your school email address can help by getting you access to a number of software programs like Audodesk and Prezi for free, as well as discounts for Adobe products.<\/p>\n
