That\u2019s why we are excited to share highlights from\u00a0Washington Monthly\u2019s 2014 College Guide<\/a>, which ranks schools nation-wide in terms of the best \u201cbang for your buck\u201d.<\/p>\n

Washington Monthly based its rankings on the public good each school provides in three broad categories including: social mobility, research and service.<\/p>\n

When it comes to national universities, here are the top five schools ranked for providing the best bang for your buck.<\/p>\n

  1. University of California San Diego \u2013 This school got an overall score of 100 in the rankings with a net price of $12,726 and a graduation rate of 88 percent.<\/li>\n
  2. University of California Riverside<\/li>\n
  3. University of California Berkeley<\/li>\n
  4. Texas A&M University College Station<\/li>\n
  5. University of California Los Angeles<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    If you\u2019re after a Master\u2019s Degree the rankings will point you primarily to the East Coast where the New York Schools took a full three of the top five spots. Here are the top five colleges to check out to get the best bang for your buck for a Master\u2019s Degree:<\/p>\n

    1. CUNY Brooklyn College \u2013 The net price for this school, at $4,500, is relatively affordable for the otherwise high cost of obtaining a Master\u2019s Degree. The other good bit of news is they accept 28 percent of applicants.<\/li>\n
    2. CUNY Queens College<\/li>\n
    3. CUNY Bernard M. Baruch College<\/li>\n
    4. California State University Fullerton<\/li>\n
    5. University of Washington Bothell<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Looking for the best schools for the Liberal Arts, well then you have a quite a few choices across the country, particularly schools in the Midwest.<\/p>\n

      1. Amherst College in Maine \u2013 The net price for this school comes in at a steal of $6,721, but only accepts 13 percent of applicants, so be sure to write a killer essay.<\/li>\n
      2. Michigan Jewish Institute<\/li>\n
      3. University of Minnesota \u2013 Morris<\/li>\n
      4. Salem College in North Carolina<\/li>\n
      5. Grinnell College in Iowa<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
